Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Quille, Inc., a Delaware corporation (“Quille,” “we”). They cover the Quille service — our website, our app, and the Founding Families program described below. By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to them.

We have tried to write these terms the way we write everything: plainly. Where the law requires formal language, we use it, and we say so.

1. What Quille is

Quille helps a family capture a loved one’s life stories through real, guided conversations — one family member interviewing another, with Quille’s assistance — and turns those conversations into a book.

2. The free session

Your first guided conversation and its written chapter are free. No payment details are required. The free session is offered once per storyteller.

3. Founding Families — what your purchase includes

Joining as a Founding Family (a one-time purchase, at the price shown at checkout) gives you, for one storyteller:

• The guided conversations that complete the book — the full arc, from childhood to now, with any family member as interviewer. How many it takes varies by family; we plan for about eight, as a good-faith estimate, and we do not meter them.
• Your family’s book, in both forms: the digital book in the app, and a printed hardcover shipped to you when the story is complete.
• A second printed copy — our gift to Founding Families, shipped with the first.
• The Voice Archive — access to your family’s recordings and transcripts in the app.

That is the whole promise. Anything else we deliver along the way is ours to give, not something these terms owe you.

4. When your family’s place opens

Joining now is a pre-sale: you are reserving your family’s place while we finish building.

• We currently expect to welcome Founding Families in autumn 2026. This is a good-faith estimate, not a guaranteed date.
• Our promise to you: if we have not opened your access within six months of your purchase, we will refund you in full, automatically. You don’t need to ask.

5. How long access lasts

• Your access runs for twelve months from the day your access opens.
• Life does not run on schedules, and Quille exists for families in seasons of life that are hard to predict. If you need more time, write to us at support@quille.co — extensions are granted at our discretion, and we approach every request with generosity.
• Whatever happens with access, your family’s recordings and transcripts remain available to you (see Section 8).

If your twelve months end with no conversations ever held, we will have checked in with you along the way — and at the end we will simply refund you in full rather than keep money for something that never happened. If you’d rather extend, tell us before the period ends.

6. Refunds

• Full refund, no questions asked, any time from purchase until fifteen days after your first guided conversation. Write to support@quille.co; we will confirm within two business days and return every cent.
• After that window, refunds are at our discretion. Ask us anyway — we read every request with care.
• If we refund you, your family keeps its recordings and transcripts (Section 8). The book and further guided conversations are no longer owed.

7. Payment

• Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
• The price is stated at checkout and charged once. There is no subscription and nothing recurring.
• Purchases are available to U.S. customers only at this time. You must be at least 18 to purchase.

8. Your stories belong to you

This section survives everything else in these terms, including refunds and account closure.

• The recordings, transcripts, and stories captured through Quille belong to your family. We claim no ownership of them, ever.
• You grant Quille a limited, revocable license to process them — transcription, writing, printing, delivery — solely to provide the service. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
• You can export your recordings and transcripts at any time.
• We will never use your family’s stories to train AI models without your explicit opt-in consent.

9. Recording consent and your responsibilities

• You confirm that everyone recorded in a Quille session has agreed to be recorded. The app asks for this consent before each storyteller’s first session; honoring it is a condition of using the service.
• Recording-consent law varies by U.S. state. You are responsible for using Quille lawfully where you are.
• You agree not to misuse the service: no unlawful use, and no reselling your family’s place to someone else.

10. What we don’t promise

• Quille produces its chapters with the assistance of artificial intelligence, working from what your family actually said. We review quality carefully, but we do not warrant that any chapter, book, or transcript is free of errors. The name-check and refinement steps exist so your family controls the final text.
• The service is provided “as is” to the maximum extent the law allows.
• Our total responsibility to you, for any claim connected to the service, is limited to the amount you paid us. Some states do not allow certain limitations; where the law says otherwise, the law wins.

11. Ending an account

You can close your account at any time by writing to support@quille.co. We can suspend or close accounts that violate Section 9. In every case, Section 8 survives: your family’s recordings and transcripts remain exportable for 90 days after closure, then are deleted as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Disputes

We would rather fix a problem than argue about it — Section 6 is the first place to go. If we truly cannot resolve something:

• Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Quille pays the arbitration fees beyond your filing fee under those rules.
• Small-claims carve-out: either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court instead.
• No class actions: disputes are individual; neither of us may participate in a class or representative proceeding against the other.
• These terms are governed by Delaware law.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you by email before the change takes effect, and the change will not shrink what your existing purchase already includes.
